Picture Day is Coming!
Picture Day will be on October 26th and 27th during PE and Health Classes! Need the form? Find it here.
Veterans Day at Thoreau
Attention all Thoreau families and friends. This year, Thoreau is looking to celebrate our community’s Veterans through an in-person event at the school on the morning of November 11th. All Veterans (and active duty service members) are invited to participate in a short ceremony, parade, and light reception. If your family has or knows a Veteran that is interested in participating in this event, please complete the Veterans Day at Thoreau form by October 22nd.
Parental Consent for Digital Tools used at Thoreau
Is your student still not able to use some of the digital tools that your teachers are using in the classroom? Perhaps it is because you still need to complete this online form to indicate consent or refusal regarding the FCPS-approved online tools. For further information you can visit the Important Information and Forms page in our Resources section of this website for a full list of software used at Thoreau.
Report safety issues online or by text message using the Safety Tipline. You may choose to identify yourself or remain anonymous.
Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid
Starting on October 13, the Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid will be distributed to all FCPS families. For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child’s school by November 5
World Language Credit Exam
Is your child fluent in a language other than English? If your child is able to speak, read and write in a language other than English, your child may be able to earn a high school credit by taking the World Language Credit Exam. Additional information about this opportunity may be found here.
Anticipated Bus Delays
Due to the bus driver shortage, we will be increasing “double back” bus runs, meaning a bus is required to run two scheduled routes back to back that would normally have been covered by two separate buses. These “double backs” may impact delivery time to schools or bus stops and may have a domino effect, affecting after-school drop-off times.
There is now a new Emergency Broadband Benefit available to eligible households through the Federal Communications Commission. This is a temporary benefit that will help to lower the cost of internet broadband service during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. Find out more.
